Carol Allen Represents Arbor Christian Fellowship at Bi-Annual DOM Meeting
The California Southern Baptist Convention’s bi-annual meeting of the Directors of Missions (DOMs) took place this week at the state office in Fresno, California. The event brought together key ministry leaders from across the state, including Orange County’s own Victor Chayasirisobhon, DOM of the Orange County Southern Baptist Association, for a time of prayer, collaboration, and spiritual refreshment.
Among those in attendance was Carol Allen from Arbor Christian Fellowship, who represented our church as a member of the California Southern Baptist Convention’s Prayer Team. In addition to her role on the Prayer Team, Carol also serves as the California Women's Mission Union (WMU) volunteer prayer consultant, further demonstrating her deep commitment to prayer. Carol’s dedication has been a cornerstone of our church's ministry, and her involvement in both the prayer team and WMU continues to strengthen the prayer foundation of our community.
Also present at the meeting was Gil De La Rosa, DOM Fellowship President, who opened the meeting by welcoming the Directors of Missions, introducing the new members, and introducing California Southern Baptist Convention President Rolland Slade, who greeted attendees with an encouraging message. The presence and support of these leaders were both significant and an honor, as they continue to lead the movement of prayer and revival across the state.
The meeting was highlighted by a powerful time of prayer, led by Bill Elliff, a renowned revivalist, church consultant, and the author of Prayer with No Intermission: 40 Days to Unceasing Prayer. Bill’s message was focused on the importance of cultivating a life of continuous prayer, a theme that resonated deeply with the attendees. He prayed specifically for the prayer team Carol represents, as well as for the broader prayer initiatives of the California Southern Baptist Convention. As a Senior Teaching Pastor at The Summit Church in North Little Rock, Arkansas, Bill has seen firsthand the power of prayer in fueling revival, and his message was both inspiring and convicting.
Looking forward, excitement is building for the Ascent Prayer Summit, taking place April 24-26, 2025, at Gateway Seminary in Ontario, California. This three-day event, hosted by the California Southern Baptist Convention, promises to be a transformative experience for pastors and church leaders across the state. The summit’s focus will be on Scripture-fed, Spirit-led, worship-based prayer, providing a unique opportunity to draw near to God’s presence in a powerful way.
Among the summit’s presenters will be Bill Elliff, along with Dennis Henderson and Nathan Lino. Nathan Lino, a respected leader in the prayer movement, will open the event with a powerful address on April 24, at Gateway Seminary’s Chapel. The summit promises not only to be an inspiring time of teaching and prayer but also a chance to reflect on the 2025 CSBC Prayer Initiative, which seeks to reignite the theological importance of prayer in the life of every believer and every church.
As part of this initiative, our goal is for every church to be called a House of Prayer. With this vision in mind, the DOM Bi-Annual Meeting and Ascent Prayer Summit are key milestones in the ongoing movement toward deepening the prayer life of our churches.
As we look ahead to the Ascent Prayer Summit, we are reminded of the importance of seeking God’s presence, not just in moments of need but in our everyday walk with Him. This summit, and the prayer initiatives it supports, offer a unique opportunity to deepen our relationship with God and each other as we move forward together in faith.
