Joy, Fellowship & Faith: A Beautiful Afternoon at Arbor Christian Fellowship’s Ladies BBQ Luncheon
An afternoon of joyful worship, heartfelt ministry updates, and a delicious, lovingly crafted feast brought women together in celebration, service and unity at Arbor Christian Fellowship
It was another heartwarming afternoon at Arbor Christian Fellowship, as women from all walks of life gathered for the much-anticipated Ladies BBQ Luncheon—a vibrant event that blended good food, rich fellowship, and a deep sense of purpose.
From the very first note sung by the beloved Arbor Angels, the day radiated joy. Their spirited rendition of “This Little Light of Mine” set the tone—an uplifting reminder that each woman carries the light of Christ. As the song filled the room, smiles lit up faces and joy sparkled in eyes. It was a shared moment of unity and celebration that captured the essence of the afternoon.
The luncheon that followed was nothing short of spectacular. The buffet table was a feast of flavor and color, featuring BBQ pulled pork sandwiches, cheeseburgers, fresh fruit, and delectable crudités and salads—all lovingly handmade. But the star for many? The dessert table, of course—overflowing with homemade treats that were every bit as delicious as they were beautiful. Every bite tasted like love in action.
Yet beyond the food and laughter, the heart of the afternoon centered on missions and ministry. Prayer Warrior Carol Allen shared an exciting opportunity through the North American Mission Board’s (NAMB) Christmas in July initiative. As a church, Arbor will be supporting a local missionary and pastor by collecting items and donations for back-to-school backpacks for children in Los Angeles County. It's a practical and powerful way to show the love of Christ to families in need. (For those interested in giving, Carol Allen is available for details on needed items and donation options; please contact her here).
Following that, Women’s Ministries leaders Lou Cobb and Linda Baldwin offered an inspiring look at Operation Christmas Child, sharing its history and growth under the leadership of Franklin Graham. This year, Arbor Christian Fellowship is excited to double the number of shoeboxes packed and sent. The initiative is already gaining momentum, and ladies are encouraged to begin preparing their boxes now to bless children around the world this Christmas.
A treasured moment of every women's luncheon came next: missionary birthday prayers. Led by Elizabeth Johnson, the group paused to intercede for NAMB and International Mission Board (IMB) missionaries who are celebrating birthdays today. Many of these missionaries choose to undertake bold ministry efforts on their birthdays, knowing they will be covered in prayer. This intentional time of intercession is a sacred reminder that even the smallest offering or prayer can have eternal impact.
Worship continued as the ladies from Arbor’s 3 p.m. service, led by El Toro Baptist Church International, lifted their voices in a joyful medley of songs glorifying the name of Jesus—the Name above all names. Their voices truly sounded like the voices of angels, and as they sang, you could feel the presence of the Holy Spirit gently descend upon the room. United in praise, the atmosphere shifted—hearts were stirred, and the stage was set for the message to follow.
Closing the event was a stirring and thoughtful message from Ruth Dignadice, wife of Arbor’s new senior pastor, Jonathan Dignadice. Centered on Acts 4:12—“And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved”—Ruth gently and insightfully unpacked the power and uniqueness of Jesus’ name. Her words were loving, kind, eye-opening, and full of grace. Ruth carries a beautiful spirit of servant leadership that shines through in everything she shares, and we are so honored to have her as part of our church family. The entire Dignadice family is truly a blessing to Arbor Christian Fellowship.
As women lingered afterward—praying, embracing, and sharing heartfelt conversation—it was clear that the event had nourished more than just the body. It was a day filled with purpose, community, and the unmistakable presence of God.
At Arbor Christian Fellowship, this is the heartbeat of Women’s Ministry: gathering in love, growing in faith, and going out in service. Whether preparing a meal, packing a backpack, praying for a missionary, or singing praises—every woman has a place and a purpose in this vibrant community.
